Abstract

ABSTRAK

Sungai Kendal memiliki peran penting dalam pengendalian banjir di wilayah sekitarnya. Namun, perubahan tata guna lahan dan intensitas hujan berpotensi meningkatkan debit banjir melebihi kapasitas sungai. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan penampang eksisting Sungai Kendal dalam menyalurkan debit banjir rencana dengan kala ulang 2, 5, 10, dan 20 tahun, serta merancang penampang sungai yang sesuai agar aliran dapat tertampung secara optimal. Perhitungan debit banjir rencana menggunakan metode rasional menghasilkan debit sebesar 149,766 m3/s, 198,220 m3/s, 229,055 m3/s, dan 255,484 m3/s. Pada analisis hidraulika dengan perangkat lunak HEC-RAS memperlihatkan bahwa kondisi eksisting sungai tidak mampu menyalurkan debit banjir tersebut, terbukti dengan terjadinya luapan di seluruh segmen akibat elevasi muka air yang melebihi tinggi tebing sungai. Untuk itu, dilakukan perencanaan ulang penampang sungai dengan dimensi lebar atas 20 meter, lebar dasar 10 meter, dan kedalaman rata-rata 6 meter, dilengkapi dengan tanggul dengan ketinggian puncak 7 meter. Hasil pemodelan menunjukkan bahwa desain ini dapat menyalurkan debit banjir rencana tanpa menimbulkan limpasan sampai kala ulang
20 tahun. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengelolaan kapasitas sungai berbasis hidraulika untuk meminimalkan risiko banjir dan diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam upaya pengendalian banjir di Kota Kendal.

ABSTRACT

The Kendal River plays an important role in flood control in the surrounding area. However, land-use changes and increasing rainfall intensity may raise flood discharges beyond the river’s capacity. This study aims to analyze the capacity of
the existing Kendal River cross-section in conveying design flood discharges with return periods of 2, 5, 10, and 20 years, as well as to design an optimized cross-section capable of accommodating such flows. The design flood discharge was calculated using the Rational Method, resulting in 149.766 m3/s, 198.220 m3/s,229.055 m3/s, and 255.484 m3/s. Hydraulic analysis using HEC-RAS showed that the current river condition is unable to convey these discharges, as indicated by overtopping in all segments due to water surface elevations exceeding the riverbanks. Therefore, a redesigned cross-section was proposed with a top width of 20 m, a bottom width of 10 m, an average depth of 6 m, and levees with a crest elevation of 7 m. The simulation results indicated that this design can safely
convey flood discharges up to the 20-year return period without overtopping. This study highlights the importance of hydraulics-based river capacity management to reduce flood risks and is expected to contribute to flood control efforts in Kendal City.
